Planning Day 2
Working in stage groups the teachers selected units and developed
a framework for the two-year cycle. The teachers also identified
the text types that would be a focus in units. This provided the
school with an opportunity to monitor the development of writing
skills across the school.
Tracking the outcomes included in each unit
It is important for teachers to track or monitor the outcomes
included in each unit. The teachers were provided with tracking
sheets for this purpose. These are to be included by teachers
as part of their class/stage program. Examples of the tracking
sheets are included in the pro forma section of this case study.
These can be printed or downloaded for future use.
Planning units of work
The next step for teachers was to plan their unit of work, working
together in cooperative planning sessions with the Teacher-Librarian,
Support Teacher (Learning Difficulties), Computer Coordinator
and other team members, as appropriate. A variety of planning
sheets was shared with the staff and these can be found in the
pro forma section that follows.
