Adjustments to assessment

What adjustments will individual students need for assessment opportunities?

Teachers select adjustments as appropriate to particular assessment opportunities to enable individual students to demonstrate achievement in relation to selected outcomes. The nature of the adjustments for individual students may be informed by the collaborative curriculum planning process.

Adjustments to assessment may include:

  • adjustments to the assessment process (eg a student may be provided with assistive technology, a reader or writer, and/or extra time)
  • adjustments to what students are asked to produce, for example:
    • changes to layout or format for responses
    • reduced number of questions
    • students using their individual communication strategies such as facial expression, augmentative communication systems (AAC), nod, gaze gesture to indicate responses    Dale Addition   Dale Telling Time or gesture to indicate responses.
